Tim Burtons "9" Animated Movie Review

"9" Raggedy Andy Meets The Terminator!

Fantastic filmmakers Tim Burton (A Nightmare Before Christmas, The Corpse Bride, Charlie and The Chocolate Factory) and Timur Bekmambetov (Wanted, Nightwatch) combine their many talents to produce a visually breathtaking animated film set in a post-apocalyptic wasteland. Although 9’s storyline is a tad too simplistic and familiar (It‘s man or rag dolls vs. machines), it is visually stunning which is reason enough to watch it on the big screen.

"9" stars Elijah Wood, John C. Reilly, Jennifer Connelly, Martin Landau, Christopher Plummer and Crispin Glover. Directed by Shane Acker and features the music of Danny Elfman.

When 9 (The Lord of the Ring’s Elijah Wood) is awakened for the first time by the “Spark of Life” given to him by his maker, he finds himself alone on a desolate, post-apocalyptic world. All humans have vanished from the world, and it is only by accident that 9 discovers a small number of refugees that look a lot like him.

9 comes to find that the others are in fear for their lives and have been hiding out from deadly machines which are intent on destroying all living beings. 9 convinces the group that their destruction is inevitable if they continue to hide out. The first thing they need to do is find out why the machines are out to destroy them. 9 and the others will come to find out that they are As they'll soon come to learn, the very future of civilization may depend on them.
