American Idol Auditions
As everybody knows, American Idol is a television show that has has swept the world by storm. American Idol auditions thousands of amateur singers from across the United States. From the American Idol auditions, a selected number of these amateur singers are chosen to compete with each other to win the coveted title of American Idol. American Idol has a British flavor to it. The American Idol game show was first conceptualized on the lines of the show Pop Idol from U.K. and at this time American Idol is being produced by the same U.K. producers Ken Warwick and Simon Fuller who also produced Pop Idol.
June 11, 2002 was when the very first episode of American Idol aired on television. American Idol's first season attracted record television viewers and a great deal of enthusiasm across the country. The American Idol game show aims to discover the best young singing talent in the United States by giving American Idol auditions in a nationwide search for the most talented singers.
How The American Idol Audition Works
The American Idol auditions are typically performed in six to seven U.S. cities every season. If you have ever get the chance to watch an American Idol audition then you will notice that there are some outstanding singers that get cut, while some not so talented singers are selected. Many a time I have wondered while watching the judges screw up time and again at the American Idol auditions, are they seeing and hearing what I do? The thousands of contestants selected during the American Idol auditions will be filtered into a few hundred. During the next stage of American Idol auditions, the contestants are further filtered in the Hollywood round and ultimately 24 contestants will go to the semifinals of which 12 are females and 12 males. In the final round of American Idol, the contestants will be further reduced to an even dozen. From this 12, a singer will be eliminated from bottom three contestants each week until the final episode. During the final episode only two singers will remain and from these two finalists, the winner (the American Idol) and the runner up are selected. From their first American Idol audition all the way until the finals, American Idol gives us a ton of great music mixed with a lot of laughs along the way.

Many an amateur singer dreams about getting their big break in American Idol and try very hard to get an American Idol audition. Some come out with flying colors while some fail miserably. But we should realize there can be only winner at the end the day and each and every performer who emerged from their American Idol audition with such high hopes cannot be an American Idol. It takes much more than a beautiful singing voice to become the American Idol. Apart from a talented singing voice, a competitor also needs to have the right personality to win their competition. An American Idol competitor needs to have both rhythm and command over different tunes besides having a beautiful voice . Also, having the ability to dance along with their singing is also a huge advantage over others who can't dance worth a lick. There are some former competitors who have stated their regrets at not having taken dance lessons prior to their American Idol audition.

The eligibility criterion to get an American Idol audition is that you should be between the ages of 16 and 29 and you have to be a citizen or permanent resident of this country. "You should feel the lyrics when you are singing a song and the expressions should show on your face." is some helpful advice given to future American Idol contestants by some of the previous winners of the American Idol. Some more advise is: "When giving your American Idol audition, you need to really put everything you can into the song you are singing." Also they advise that prior to giving your American Idol audition "you should rehearse the songs you choose over and over again until you perfect it and sing the same song in front of the judges with full confidence and capture their attention and imagination and leave them wanting to hear more from you." It is important that you remember to focus you attention on getting though the current round and each time you make it into next round you have gained an extra chance to show off your talents and best of all, you are that much closer to winning the American Idol crown. Although your American Idol audition will probably be done "a capella" (without instruments) and without a microphone as well. Don't panic. It's a very good way to train.

Also remember, there is a good possibility that you may be asked about your favorite role models. Who are they? Can you describe them? So, Try your best to come up with a few names. How you speak is important, but remember, it is better to sound uneducated than to sound ignorant. In other words, try to strengthen your verbalization and vocabulary but if you are not sure of the usage of a particular word, find another word or phrase. Don't force it. There is a good chance that you will be asked to talk about yourself, so be concise and be prepared. The cliché "dress for success" comes into play here. The judges will be grading you on the way you dress. Never be under dressed, but definitely get fashionable as well as color coordinated if at all possible. During your American Idol audition the judges will be expecting you to be respectful, honest and truthful. Don't disappoint them. After observing past American Idol auditions, it seems as if the judges like the contestants who dedicate the songs they sing to their family members and/or friends. With so much on the line, you might want to take a few voice-training classes prior to your American idol audition. A good voice coach can greatly increases your chances of making it into American Idol.
