I am proud to admit that I am a huge movie buff. In fact, I love movies so much I try to see at least three to five movies per week. There is something to be said about spending a couple of hours escaping reality, by visiting some completely different world. I found 2007 to be a great year for some very good movie releases. Here is my personal list of the best movies of 2007.
Films released in 2007 had something for everybody including action, fantasy and adventure movies, romance films for the romantic people out there, hilarious comedies for the movie lover who just wants fun plus some wonderful animated cartoons for the entire family to enjoy. Here is my lineup of the best 2007 movies.
Without a doubt, one of the best 2007 movies I saw was “Spiderman 3”. Although it fell a little short when compared to the first two Spiderman movies. 2007 was loaded with "third" movie sequels including: “Spiderman 3”, “Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End”, “Shrek the Third” and “The Bourne Identity”. Like “Spiderman 3”, they were all good but not quite as good as their predecessors.
Another one of the best 2007 movies is Pixar’s enjoyable animated film called “Ratatouille”. This is a wonderful story of a rat living in Paris who with the help of a famous dead chef and his talent less son, lives his dream of becoming a master chef. I found “Ratatouille” to be funny, touching and simply an all around great movie. 2007 was a fantastic year for several other animated movies as well. “Persepolis” was a wonderful adaptation of a graphic novel about an Afghani girl growing up during the 1980s.
Here are some of the best 2007 movies that were nominated for Oscars. An excellent film that got everyone talking was the Coen brothers' “No Country for Old Men”. Javier Bardem's fantastic performance gave me shivers. One of my favorites out of the best movies of 2007 was “There Will be Blood”. I this film was an enormous step in the right direction for writer/director P.T. Anderson. “There Will be Blood” also gave talented actor Daniel Day-Lewis another well deserved Oscar for the category of Best Leading Performance by an Actor.
Out of the best 2007 movies, here are some of my personal favorites: “The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford”, “Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street”, “3:10 to Yuma”, “Superbad”, “4 Months, 3 Weeks, and 2 Days”, and last but not least “Zodiac”.
Without a doubt, the best 2007 international movie was a French film entitled “The Diving Bell and the Butterfly”. This film was beautifully done and incredibly touching. It was simply an amazing movie.
On the whole, you could compare the best 2007 movies to movies from almost any other year and the best movies of 2007 would definitely compare favorably. 2007 was an excellent year for dramas and comedies; blockbusters and foreign films alike.
