Best 2005 Movies
While new movies are released every year that are really good, I found 2005 to be a banner year for great films. Movies released this year covered the emotional gamut. They were action packed, hysterically funny, suspenseful, fantastic, moving and heart-breaking, take your pick. This year was so good for quality films that I would have to make 2005 movies as one of my favorite film years of all time. Here are some of the best movies of 2005.
2005 was a fantastic year for lovers of fantasy flix and science fiction films. The final Star Wars episode was released with the Sixth or was it the Third episode (it all depends on your prospective I guess). Anyway, the Star Wars saga is now complete with the release of Revenge of the Sith. Revenge of the Sith grossed over 848 million dollars and sadly brought an end to this thirty year long fan favorite.
Fans of fantasy author C.S. Lewis were elated with the release of The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe, the first of his Chronicles of Narnia series. Taking the prize for highest grossing film that year was Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire with over 896 million dollars. The fourth book in this monster series is certainly among the best movies of 2005.
The best 2005 movies saw the long awaited return of Steven Spielberg who directed summer blockbuster War of the Worlds starring Tom Cruise, as well as the critically acclaimed historical film, Munich. Steven Spielberg has still got the magic touch. Coming off his monster success with his Lord of the Rings trilogy, Peter Jackson returned with his wonderful re-make of the classic film, King Kong. Director Robert Rodriguez made one of the best movies of 2005 with Sin City. All of these great directors were really flaunting their stuff with these wonderful 2005 movies.
The years best movies of 2005 saw Crash bring home the Best Picture Oscar based on its powerful look at racism in today's society. Brokeback Mountain won its own share of awards. Other award winning films include Capote, Walk the Line, Good Night and Good Luck and the surprising smash-hit documentary called March of the Penguins.
2005 movies included some of the funniest comedies ever made. Tops among these great comedy films was the smash hit, Wedding Crashers. Not far behind was the Judd Apatow breakout film called, The 40-Year-Old Virgin. A little known comedy entitled Waiting was among the funniest and best films of 2005.
Here are some more of the best films of 2005 that deserve honorable mention. Mr. and Mrs. Smith, Beyond Good Night and Good Luck, Batman Begins, the animated film Madagascar, The Brothers Grimm, Syriana, The Weatherman, A History of Violence and Lord of War. That ends my list of the best movies of 2005 movies. I hope you get to watch them all!
