A Crucial Electric Guitar Lesson: How To Learn The Scales

The guitar is one of the most popular musical instruments in the world and it’s easy to see why.  You can use it to thrill a crowd or soothe yourself when you’re stressed out, and there are so many different songs you can play.

This is one of the most confusing aspects of learning the guitar for most people because there’s so much to take in and it can seem so mind boggling at first.

Before you can learn to play the electric guitar you need to understand the scales and how they work, and this is actually one of the most important areas of guitar playing that must be covered.

There are a few scales that are particularly common and important to learn about.  The pentatonic scale is another of the most commonly used, contains five tones, and is what most Western music is based around.

The pentatonic scale is that which most Western music is based around.  This helps to make things simpler and keep your mind from getting overloaded.

To get yourself started with this electric guitar lesson one of the best things you can do is practice over and over every major scale in first position.  It may get a bit repetitive but you’ll feel good as you see that you’re starting to get the hang of things.

The top number of the time signature is helpful because it tells you how many beats are in a measure.  The time signature comes after the key signature. You can always tell if you’re playing the scales correctly because it will go Do, Re, Mi, Fa, So, La, Ti, Do.

Practice playing through all of the sharp scales starting with C major.  Again, with practice you’re going to start noticing the differences in sounds as you go along from one scale to the next and recognize which scales need to be used during a song.

Drills are necessary to help you gain skills. When you first get started with an electric guitar lesson it can definitely feel like a lot to take on.  It’s a lot to take on that’s for sure but over time it gets easier and you can become the guitar master like you’ve always dreamed.

Anyone can learn to play the guitar, no matter what age they are, and the electric guitar is no more difficult to learn than the acoustic.  For some people it takes longer than others but if you have patience you can become skilled.
