Surprisingly, Elvis Presley movie rentals are fan favorites at Netflix and Blockbuster Total Access. Better known as both a singer and entertainer, Elvis Presley also worked in films. During his lifetime, Elvis Presley made a total of 33 movies; 2 of the films were documentaries about his life as an entertainer, while the other 31 Elvis movies were featured Hollywood films. While the majority of Elvis Presley movie rentals were box office successes, almost all of them were criticized quite severely by a lot of critics. But who really cares? When you are watching an Elvis flick, do you really care what the critics said? Here are a few of the top Elvis Presley movie rentals you might want to rent online from either Blockbuster or Netflix:
King Creole
If you want to rent the Elvis Presley movie that had the fewest bad reviews, King Creole is the Elvis movie you will want to watch. As a matter of fact, out of the many choices of Elvis Presley movie rentals, this is probably the one that let us see the talent behind the up-and-coming legend that was Elvis. Originally intended for another entertainment legend, James Dean, the lead acting role that Elvis portrayed showed his acting prowess best. Based on the Harold Robbins novel 'A Stone for Danny Fisher', King Creole is an enjoyable movie starring Elvis in a serious role although it can be a little bit over-the-top at times, but it has its great moments. King Creole is another Elvis musical that capitalized on what Elvis did best.
Viva Las Vegas
"Viva Las Vegas" is the most popular Elvis Presley movie rental by far. Elvis means Las Vegas and Las Vegas means Elvis. "Viva Las Vegas" is considered the best of the movies Elvis Presley made after his stint in the Army. "Viva Las Vegas" is pure Vegas glitz and glamour, it's chock full of bubble gum fun and entertainment. Elvis plays a race car driver and stars opposite the curvaceous and sultry Ann Margaret. The Elvis-Ann Margaret chemistry is incomparable in this film. As with most Elvis films, the plot is somewhat lean, but who cares, just sit back and enjoy Elvis as he sings, dances, races cars and gets the girl.
Jailhouse Rock
Jailhouse Rock is the first Elvis Presley movie rental I watched. I heard rumors, but I had to see for myself! Elvis goes to jail! If you want a look into the past at the raw Elvis during his early years, with the pencil pants then rent Jailhouse Rock. This will definitely give you a good look at "The King" during the earliest stages of his entertaining ability and lady-killer, good looks. Elvis plays a young man named Vince Everett, who winds up in prison after accidentally killing another man in a fight. With a lot of spare time and a little help from his cellmate, Vince (Elvis) learns to sing and play the guitar. After he is released from prison, Vince decides to take advantage of his new-found talents and persue the life of a professional singer and entertainer. This is the film with that famous "Jailhouse Rock" and "You're So Square" musical performances that are used a lot in commercials. You can't help but fall in love with the songs in this movie and with Elvis, of course, along with "The King's" beautiful co-star.
Before watching the color enhanced version of Jailhouse Rock, do yourself a favor and rent the black and white version first to view it the way the director meant for it to be seen. Jailhouse Rock is one Elvis Presley movie rental you really should watch in it's original black and white format.
