Guitar Lessons: Tips For Tuning Your Guitar Properly

Learning how to play the guitar can be so worth it, in a few different ways.  Whether it’s just for fun in the garage or with goals of having a professional career and being a star, learning how to play the guitar is a wonderful thing because it allows people to relieve their stress and express their creativity and emotions. 

For those who have just started learning how to play the guitar and others who are already experienced, it’s important to keep the guitar properly tuned.  This is one of the biggest mistakes that new guitar players make is they don’t learn how to tune their guitar and their songs end up sounding bad because of it.

There are a few important guitar lessons tips for tuning the guitar, one being to start with tuning the thickest string and then work your way down to the thinnest.  Once you start to get the hang of it you’ll see that it really isn’t as hard as it seems. 

Make sure that when you’re tuning your guitar you start with the top and thickest string, the low E.  After the low E is the A string that you want to work on. This is also known as the fifth string. 

After the low E you tune the A, then D, G, B and finally the high E which is the string at the very bottom.  This is the best method used for tuning a guitar, especially for novice players. 

Once you have gotten the hang of things and have a better ear for tuning your guitar, you can start using a more accurate method which is to start with the A string instead of the low E so that you can then go back and tune the low E back a perfect fourth.

















If you want some extra assistance tuning your guitar, you can always go online and use an online guitar tuning tool.  This allows you to hear how the strings should sound while you’re tuning your guitar and tune it accordingly. 

There is always the option of hiring a professional to tune your guitar.   Being a guitar player basically forces you to learn how to tune the guitar, because you need to have a good ear and be able to tell when your instrument is out of tune.

A lot of the time new guitarists think that they’re doing so badly because they just aren’t getting the hang of things when in reality it could all be due to poor tuning.  To avoid this it’s important to tune your guitar on a regular basis. 

The more frequently you play your guitar, the more likely the strings are to detune and so it can vary from one person to the next.  It’s very easy to tune a guitar and these easy guitar lessons tips will make sure that you get it done right.
