Who Are The Harry Potter Actors?
The Harry Potter book series has become one of this planets most successful film franchises ever. Starring in the movie series that are adapted from J.K. Rowling best selling book series, the Harry Potter actors have more than give a stellar performance in their acting roles, they have brought J.K. Rowling stories of wizardry to life for all the worlds devoted Harry Potter fans. What, with all of the British empire's great actors yearning to land a part in this fan favorite, the Harry Potter actors that have been chosen for these excellent movies have been brilliant. Better still, the world has been introduced to three amazing young actors who have grown up before our very eyes.
The antagonist for all of the films, of course, is Harry Potter himself which is portrayed by the young actor Daniel Radcliffe. Daniel has believably taken the character from a child to a young man with grace and skill. In 1999, prior to his acting role in Harry Potter, Radcliffe played the part of a young David Copperfield in the BBC television adaptation of the Charles Dickens classic story. Not surprisingly, Daniel Radcliffe has looked beyond the Harry Potter movies and taken on other acting roles. For his on-stage performance in Equus, he has received good reviews. Along with all the rest of the young Harry Potter actors, Radcliffe will always be known for his Harry Potter role.
Personally, I can not see anybody but the ginger haired Rupert Grint playing Ron Weasley, Harry's best friend in the films. School plays and local stage productions were his only acting experience prior to his Harry Potter acting roles. Like Daniel Radcliffe, Rupert Grint has had other acting roles away from the Hogwarts School of Magic. Besides his acting role in Driving Lessons, co-starring Laura Linney and Julie Walters, he has also appeared in the British comedy movie, Thunderpants with Stephen Fry and Simon Callow.
Who ever was responsible for discovering young Harry Potter actor Emma Watson to portray the know-it-all, young magician Hermione Granger is a genius. I can't imagine anyone else filling that role. Emma only other acting experience prior to starring in the Harry Potter films was acting in school plays. It is almost impossible to believe that she went from school plays to a Harry Potter actress and to be that good. When the three young Harry Potter actors are together on the same scene, it's Emma Watson who is the most noticeable. Like her co-stars, the Harry Potter movies have helped Emma get other parts too. When she is not busy making Potter films, she is co-starring with Richard Griffiths in a made for TV movie version of Ballet Shoes, which is set in the 1930s. In the animated film, The Tale of Despereaux, scheduled for release in December 2008, Emma has lent her voice to the film's character of Princess Pea.
Granted the threesome Harry Potter actors are young and inexperienced, but can you imagine a better supporting cast than what these three youngsters have had the opportunity to learn from? Here are just a few of the movies great actors that have supported Daniel Radcliffe, Emma Watson and Rupert Grint in their Harry Potter lead acting roles. Each Harry Potter performer has brought his or her character to vibrant life. The Shakespearian actor, Ralph Fiennes does a superb job playing the chilling and sinister role of Lord Voldemort. Ralph Fiennes is also known for his acclaimed performances in The English Patient and Schindler's List.
The part of Albus Dumbledore, Hogwarts headmaster, has been shared by two wonderful actors. The late Richard Harris portrayed Dumbledore in the first two movies but tragically died before finishing the third film, resulting in Michael Gambon getting the part. Versatile Gary Oldman was cast as Sirius Black, Harry Potters Godfather, bringing a great deal of flamboyance to the role. One of the film's most memorable characters, Hagrid is lovingly played by Robbie Coltrane. I can't think of another actor who could personify the big-hearted nature of the Hogwarts gamekeeper the way Robbie Coltrane has. British actors are standing in line to be the next Harry Potter actor and with it gain instant national hero status.
