The Allure Of Horror Movies

Every movie lover has their favorite movie genre. For me, a great western with a fast drawing no-name stranger and a believable story line is what I prefer to watch, but on occasion I do love a good action adventure or some well acted horror movies. There are many movie lovers who will only watch horror movies. To some, watching only horror films may seem a bit strange and grotesque, but before we judge them, we need to understand why people watch them, and what they get out of watching horror movies. You may be surprised that it is a great idea to watch them at certain times.
There are a few different kinds of horror movies within the dark fantasy genre. There are some films such as the movie "Vacancy" that many consider to be less horror movie and more of a suspense or thriller movie, but it does many of the same things to our mind and body as any good horror movie should. There are some horror films, like the "Saw" series, that are considered to be very extreme, and because it is extremely graphic, it may not be for every horror movie lover. To me, the "Saw" movies are far superior to "Hack and Slash" horror movies because it kept you continually guessing throughout the movies. There are a great many other horror movies that fall somewhere in the middle of these two kinds of dark fantasies, and those tend to be the most popular kinds of horror movies.
There must be a reason why so many people go see horror movies just to get scared. The reason is probably the extreme body and head rush they feel from being so scared. When we get scared while watching a horror movie large amounts of adrenaline is released when our body feels the fight or flight reaction which is what gives us such a rush. This heightens our senses and makes us feel very good. Those who love to be stimulated like skydivers often get that adrenaline rush they need by watching horror movies. The more suspenseful the horror film, the better.
Horror movies can be a great idea, when going out on a first date. Just make sure your date is okay with watching a suspenseful and sometimes extremely graphic movie before you go. If they are okay with it, then go for it. A good horror movie is going to scare your date and when your date becomes scared, she is going to lean real close to you. Danger has a tendency to bring people closer together, even when that danger is only on the movie screen. If your first date is receptive to the idea of going to see a horror movie, this can be a real ice breaker.
