HOW TO CONVERT VIDEO FILES TO PSP FORMAT
Instructions for Converting Video Files to MP4 Format
As you probably know, the PSP supports the MPEG-4 video format (with the MP4 extension). The problem is that videos can come in many other formats, such as AVI, MPEG-1 and MPEG-2. One option is to join a PSP downloads membership site like ALLPSPGAMES that comes equipped with all of the free PSP software in the world for you, as well as over 100,000,000 PSP movie titles, games, music videos, music, ringtones, wallpaper, PSP themes and much more. Another option you can use is the very popular freeware program called PSP Video 9. You can find PSP Video 9, which is written by Videora Holdings, at http://www.pspvideo9.com/. PSP Video 9 not only converts video files from several popular formats (including MPEG, AVI, WMV, MOV, DivX and YouTubes FLV) to MP4, but it also sends the converted files directly to your PSP in the proper folders when it’s finished.
In order to run PSP Video 9, you’ll need to have your PSP connected to your PC with either a USB cable or a Memory Stick Duo in a card reader. PSP Video 9 is very easy to work with. All you need do is download and install PSP Video 9, connect your PSP to your PC, and then start PSP Video 9. If for some reason, PSP Video 9 fails to locate your PSP upon start-up, don't worry, you can always point it to your PSP's proper drive letter manually.
The next thing you will see is PSP Video 9's main interface window. There is a bar on the left side that has several options. To convert your video to PSP format, click Convert.
To convert (or transcode) your video, you will need to click either Transcode New Video or One Click Transcode. The One Click Transcode option will open up a file browser that will let you select a video file to convert, and after you choose the file, PSP Video 9 will immediately begin converting it to an MP4 file and when finished will drop it in a folder (the default folder being C:\Program Files\PSPVideo9\MP_ROOT\ 100MNV01\).
If you chose the Transcode New Video option to convert your video to PSP format, you will be able to select a quality profile in the New Transcoding Job area of the interface. There is a drop-down menu that has a dozen or so options from which to choose. You can learn more about them here in this thread at the PSP Video 9 forum: http://www.pspvideo9.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=850. Once you have converted your video file to PSP format, it's time to copy it over to your PSP. To do that, just click Copy in the bar on the left side of PSP Video 9's main interface which will open the Copy interface. On the left side of the screen is the PSP Video 9's output folder (which is configurable through the Setup dialog box); on the right side of the window will be your PSP. Go ahead and click the Copy Video to PSP button near the bottom of the window and "voila!" your converted video will fly on over to your PSP and land in the appropriate folder.
You will find that PSP Video 9 has a plethora of additional functionality. Sadly, it’s documentation is sorely lacking, but you will be able to learn more about it in the PSP Video 9 forum located at: (http://www.pspvideo9. com/forums/index.php). Feel free to scope out the help forum for a lot of helpful tutorials, FAQs, and additional assistance. The best way to use the forum is to register and post a question. Please don't use the search feature at first; in that way you will avoid annoying the forum regulars.
A word of warning! Although I am recommending the PSP Video 9 forum, I can’t be held responsible for the content of the forum users posts, which may or may not contain bad words or other objectionable things. Enter at your own risk. Hopefully I have answered the #1 question for PSP's: How Do I Put Videos On My PSP?
