One of my favorite ways to fill a relaxing afternoon at home is by watching a good James Bond movie. I especially look forward to the holidays for many reasons including all of the James Bond movie reruns that are offered on a lot of the top cable channels like HBO, Stars and Cinemax. My wife and I enjoy spending a few hours watching a James Bond movie before getting ready for the holiday celebrations.
The great thing is, James Bond films are available on a lot different channels other than the big movie pay channels throughout the year. The popular series of Ian Fleming's Bond movies featuring this world renowned espionage character can be found on TV almost any weekend. Some TV stations will even run James Bond movie marathons on occasion. But, for me and my wife this just wasn’t good enough. We liked the idea of watching a James Bond movie whenever we wanted to, so we decided to invest in a James Bond DVD collection.
There are a lot of my favorite Bond films in this collection, starring the handful of talented actors who portrayed the famous 007 spy. While I enjoyed watching all of the different Bond actors, none matched Sean Connery’s portrayal of 007, especially in the first James Bond movie, although Roger Moore came in a close second.
The first movie in any series is usually considered the best of the lot and this might be true in some people’s opinion about Dr. No, the very first James Bond movie. I love the mystery involved in the film and who can forget the famous scene of the exquisitely beautiful Ursula Andress emerging from the water onto the sandy beach. I even bought the poster.
Even though the first James Bond movie is a fan favorite, I would have to say that Goldfinger is definitely mine. The scene with that gorgeous woman entirely covered in 24 carat gold paint is so memorable. I could watch it over and over again and I have. Who could forget the evil Odd Job and his deadly hat.
James Bond movie's just wouldn’t be the same without a memorable antagonist. The best of the best in the classic James Bond movie will have exceptional evil bad guys that are so intriguing that you find it difficult not to root for them. This makes James Bond's fiendish arch enemy, Goldfinger a top choice for me, too. He is the ultimate villain.
The newest James Bond movie offered a brand new actor portraying our hero and a new villain as well. I had heard so many great wonderful things about the newest James Bond movie that I was very tempted to actually pay to see it at the movie theatre. That would have been a complete change in lifestyle for us. We have not paid to see a James Bond movie since Thunderball, although I guess that it’s high time that we started.
It would awesome to own the complete Bond collection including the most recent James Bond movie. The only problem with this is, with a complete collection of beautiful Bond girls to ogle and all of the fantastic Bond theme songs to listen to, I might never see the light of day again, or should I say The Living Daylights!
