Microsoft Zune Features An Mp3 Player For Music Lovers

Did you know that Microsoft makes their version of the iNfamous iPod? Well, it seems that just about every electronics firm does, but none poses a threat to topple Apple from the top of the mP3 player heap – except Microsoft Zune. This is a basic mP3 player for music lovers who prefer to sit down and listen to their music rather than play with the latest bells and whistles. That's not to say that the Microsoft Zune lacks any special features.

This Isn't The First Version

Microsoft makes great products, but they are infamous for having the first version of any new product be riddled with bugs. These bugs are usually all fixed by the second version of the product. So, you don’t need to be afraid of the Microsoft Zune in thinking that's it's a brand spanking new Microsoft product. The software currently at version 2.5 with a lot of the rough edges smoothed out.

The Toy

You need a Microsoft Zune device in order to get the Zune Software and other fun features. This is a sleek gizmo that weighs only a few ounces (depending on what model you want). They come in different colors and coordinate with a lot of Micosoft Zune accessories, such as an armband. You can also make your Zune look distinctive by getting a laser etched design on your cover (called Zune Originals). Choose from over 4o designs that range from the psychedelic to the punk.

There are limited edition designs and colors available usually through secondary markets like eBay. So, if you see a color on eBay that you never saw in the stores, chances are it is still an official Microsoft Zune, just tailor-made for a special group like their employees, for Joy Division fans or for Microsoft interns.

The Software

The Microsoft Zune software is the real heart and soul (or R & B) of the device. No Zune player is any better than the software that powers it. You get a lot of bells and whistles as well as a great selection of tunes to choose from and affordable payment plans.

Check the specifications just to be sure, but you should have at least a Windows XP platform. You might have heard that Microsoft Zune software was nothing but a jazzed-up version of Windows Media Player (standard with Microsoft XP and up), but that's all changed. This is totally new software now.

This helps you better manage your mP3 music collection. You can get Zune to work with your PC but also with other PCs through wireless connections. You can create ands burn CDs. If you have iTunes or mP3s in Media Player, don’t worry about it. Zune can play those, too. You can also make play lists and organize your music your own way.

And you can get even more music from Microsoft Zune Marketplace, with literally millions of mP3s for you to choose from. You get a Zune Pass (sort of prepaid contract for a certain number of downloads from Marketplace) with your new Microsoft Zune device.

Non Music Functions

The Microsoft Zune can do more than play and organize music, but for some of us, that's not enough. You can also connect your Zune to an Xbox 360. You can now download and watch TV shows, too. You can also listen to FM radio. You can download pictures off the Net and use your Microsoft Zune as a digital photo album.

There are a lot of different formats for watching video on the web, but Microsoft Zune can handle them. You should also be able to pick up analog television broadcasts, too.
