The whole world loves to be entertained. It's an easy way for us to treat ourselves in a little bit of vicarious fun. Maybe you enjoy watching an NFL football or NBA basketball game. At some point during the action of the game, you're likely to pretend you're part of the game; maybe even scoring a touchdown or a three pointer to win the game. That would be amazing. If you think about it, we all pretty much do the same thing when we are watching movies too. We love relating to heroes and heroines and pretending to live in their shoes, even if it's only for the amount of time the movie runs. Speaking of movies, what makes a great movie experience for you? How much trust do you put in the movie reviews displayed in the daily newspapers and online? While many movie goers and movie viewers take professional movie reviews to heart, there are plenty of people who puts more merit in their friends movie reviews.

When you hear or read the movie reviews, do they affect your decision to head off to the local movie theater and watch a film? I was wondering just how much influence movie critics have on our decisions. How often do we read their movie reviews and go to a movie we didn't want to see in the first place? Do those high-paid movie critics and their opinions on new movie releases make your decisions for you? Conversely, how many individuals fail to see films they intended to see because of movie reviews that said the movie wasn't worth the price of a theater ticket? Professional movie reviewer's will deter people from ever seeing a film, but they will also have the opposite effect if they give the movie a stellar movie review. Sadly, because we have faith in their education regarding film, we tend to listen to what these critics have to say.

Professional movie critics such as Robert Ebert appear to know what they are talking about in their movie reviews. I admit that I find that I often agree with his movie critiques. However, having said that, movie reviews have never deterred me from watching a film that I really intended on seeing. In the end I must form my own opinion. Especially since I've seen a number of films reviewed poorly, but then I ended up liking them. Truth be told, I read the local movie reviews, find one the critics gave two thumbs down to, and head on over to the movie theater and watch it because there's a greater than 50% chance that the movie reviews were all wrong. Not all of us have the same tastes and with that said, a lot of movie critics tend to let their own personal likes and dislikes taint their movie reviews which is totally unprofessional. A truly professional movie critic such as Robert Ebert has learned to ignore his personal likes and dislikes when critiquing a movie.

There are a plethora of movie reviews on the web at any time. If you want to discover varying opinions on a variety of films then check out rottentomatoes.com, it's a really cool site. While some critics may bash a film into the ground, others will give it a thumbs-up. As I said, a great deal depends on the critic writing the movie review. When it comes down to it, you can see how many movie critics are writing damning reviews on a new movie release and how many are praising it. The way it is supposed to work is, if the movie receives many more bad reviews than good reviews, than chances are it's going to be a flop. But, if you really want to know for sure, go and see it for yourself and give it your own movie review.
