Over 9 Million World Of Warcraft Accounts And Growing
While two is company, over nine million World Of Warcraft accounts is a crowd; a massive unruly crowd. That is how I feel about my World Of Warcraft account these days, although it wasn't always that way. When Blizzard, the maker of WoW announced in July of 2007 that they reached a milestone of 9 million World Of Warcraft accounts that was sure to grow even larger with the soon to be released "Wrath Of The Lich King", it got me reminiscing about when World Of Warcraft used to be totally enjoyable.
When My World Of Warcraft Account Was In It's Infancy
When I first decided to create a World of Warcraft account, it was a new thing. There was no such thing as world of war craft power leveling, and the cosmos of Warcraft was pretty small. I think there were only a few thousand players at that point, which made things quite interesting. It was a real community, and you knew both your friends and your enemies quite well. The world of Warcraft community, however, has grown massively since that point.
WoW Gamers Addicted To Their World of Warcraft Account
I am ashamed to admit it, but for many many months I spent practically my whole life online thanks to that game. My World of Warcraft account ate up time, money, and a relationship. It seems more and more gamers have become addicted with their World of Warcraft account. Clinical psychologists are saying up to 40% of World Of Warcraft gamers are addicted to playing their World of Warcraft account. I recently read an article where this guy thanks his World of Warcraft account for bringing he and his brother closer together in their once messed up relationship. I never, however, took it as seriously as some people do nowadays. They have ruined the game by taking everything way too far. A child in China reportedly died of neglect because after purchasing a World of Warcraft account, his parents became so addicted playing WoW they forgot to feed their child. Now that's sick!
"My World Of Warcraft Account Is Worth More Than Yours"
That is what the players brag about these days. Among the WoW community they are even saying that a thief would rather steal your World Of Warcraft account than your credit card because it's more valuable. You see, people buy and sell World of Warcraft accounts nowadays. Basically, everything is for sale. There is a service called World of Warcraft power leveling now, where you can pay money to have your characters account automatically increase in power and gain many levels. This takes the whole point of the game. World of Warcraft players like myself who have spent many hours upgrading our characters and fighting in various quests have apparently wasted all that time now that Blizzard Entertainment has decided to simply sell experience to the highest bidder. I know that the World of Warcraft game is just a game, but a game is ruined when people cheated out of it. This is a fully immersive, interactive environment, but now plot continuity has been sacrificed in the name of making money. My World of Warcraft account is supposed to be a "virtual gaming community" not a "virtual banking community!"
Build Up Your World of Warcraft Account The Old Way
The first thing Blizzard needs to do to make my World of Warcraft account what it once was is to break up the "virtual real estate" aspect of the game. I personally think that it should be illegal to buy or sell a World of Warcraft account. Of course it would be difficult for Blizzard Entertainment Games to enforce these rules, but nonetheless it would discourage the practice. If you want to have powerful World of Warcraft accounts, you should spend the time playing the game. That is how most of us have gotten to where we are, and there is no reason that someone should have special privileges in the game just because they can dish out a little bit of dough. It just doesn't make sense to me that they would do that. It makes a World of Warcraft account almost meaningless and the game into a pathetic sham, if you ask me. It used to be a pretty good game, but now I have my doubts. When is the next expansion going to be released? I can't wait! Oh well, they need to change it to, up to 41% of the gamers who have a World of Warcraft account are addicted.
