WoW Tips and Tricks
I hope you find these World of Warcraft Tips helpful. They are not meant as a way to cheat, but rather as way to help you enjoy this fantastic game even more. These World of Warcraft Tips are meant to give you ways to save time as well as ways to avoid wasting time. As I find more World of Warcraft Tips I will add them to this page, so check back often.
WoW Tip #1 Auto-Looting - To save yourself a lot of time, Auto-Loot everything after a kill by doing a Shift + Right Click on the fallen foe.
WoW Tip #2 Multi-Questing – Do not do quests one at a time. Get as many quests as you can find before heading out. As soon as you enter a new map region, the first thing you should do is head on over to the main town and get all the quest’s you can by speaking to all the NPC's you find. Once you get the quests, head on out and start exploring and questing. If a quest seems like a big waste of time, requiring you run around from person to person for an hour or so, then abandon the quest and work on another one, it just isn’t worth you wasting all of that time.
WoW Tip #3 Solo Quests vs. Group Quests – In the World of Warcraft, there are times when it may become necessary to join a group in order to complete a quest. While joining a group will speed up your power game enormously, make sure you do it only when it’s to your advantage. In WoW, about ¾ of quests are solo quests with the remaining ¼ being group quests. Solo - If you intend to solo the group quests, it is important that you wait until your character is a few levels higher and the quest becomes green, otherwise it will be a big waste of time. Groups - Groups work well! But they must be efficient groups. Beware of joining badly organized groups, they will slow you down! A badly formed group is one that continuously dies while trying to complete a quest or it’s a group that jerks around, not getting anything accomplished. You would be far better off going solo than joining this kind of group. If you are strong at mele and have a quick way to heal yourself such as a Paladin or a Shaman, then you may be far better off going solo. For those of you who are warrior types that are strong at mele, but can't heal worth a darn, and those of you who are priests and mages who have little armor function. You are better off working in groups.
WoW Tip #4 WoW Level-Grinding - A great way (albeit a boring way) to quickly gain experience and grind out a level is by killing stuff that is a few levels below you (green). Like I said, it’s boring, but it pays! By killing weaker creatures, you minimize the amount of damage you take, you kill them quickly, and you have quick recovery due to low or no damage taken. The experience gained from quick, numerous kills adds up faster over time than the higher experienced gained from killing more powerful creatures, because higher level creatures cause much more damage to you, which means a great deal more down time for you. Whenever you find yourself struggling with a quest, do some level grinding and get your levels up, then finish the quest. Let me reiterate! Do not take on a quest that is 3 or more levels higher than you unless you are doing it with a competent group. Why spend hours and hours of valuable time trying to do the near impossible when you could have spent those hours level grinding and gaining valuable levels for your character who would then be powerful enough to finish the quest much more easily. This is how to power your way to WoW upper levels.
WoW Tip #5 Weapon DPS – Too often players will mistakenly put DPS (damage per second) on their weapons as it’s primary factor. This is wrong and here’s why! Abilities such as % to critical and damage bonuses are calculated based upon the damage of the weapon or the weapon’s speed. DPS is just an average and a character’s ability is never used in the computing.
Here is an example:
Weapon #1: a slow, heavy weapon deals 110-130 damage, yet is only 80
DPS
Weapon #2: a faster weapon deals 75-85 damage, and is 85 DPS.
Because of it’s higher DPS, the majority of players will mistakenly equip weapon #2 automatically. Well, if you are a warrior and you enjoy using your Mortal Strike ability then this would be a terrible idea! Why? Because, Mortal Strike on weapon #1 would deal 220-260 damage, while Mortal Strike on weapon #2 would deal 150-170 damage. Quite the difference!
Let’s try another example:
Weapon #1: super fast, super light. 10 DPS, speed of 1.5
Weapon #2: not as fast, but harder hitting: 12 DPS, speed of 3
Now, let’s say you are a Rogue, and you have a 12% chance to critical with every swing because of your abilities in Critical Chance. With Weapon
#1, you will have twice as many criticals as you will with weapon #2! Do you understand why it’s not always the wisest or most beneficial move to equip the higher DPS weapon?
WoW Tip #6 Adding to Macro’s and Speech - In both Macro's and speech, remember that %t will cite your current target, while shift + clicking on something will add it to your speech or your macro. Both %t and shift+click come in very handy.
WoW Tip #7 More Quest Tips – (Optional) If you are between the level’s 12-15 or so and you want some easy quests to solve, not to mention the additional experience for the easy kills, then try traveling to another race's "starting region" while you are still low enough in levels to be able to get the quests in that area. Talk about easy!
WoW Tip #8 Acquiring Better Weapons - Many of the really great weapons drop off of bosses.
WoW Tip #9 One Handed Weapon + Wand Bug – This will turn your casting character into a death dealing tank! While engaged in mele combat, if you have a one handed weapon, such as a mace, in your main hand, plus you have a wand equipped in your off-hand, you can double your damage by hitting with your wand and your one handed weapon (mace) simultaneously. For this to work, you will need to time it just right. Wait until your character is just about to swing his melee weapon (you will see his arm fly back). As soon as this happens, use your wand, and you will get a double punch! A fantastic trick that turns your casting character into a hand to hand killing machine. If you intend to use this trick, do not have your caster go for a 2-H weapon.
WoW Tip #10 Honor Points - Soloing or joining a normal party is your best way for getting maximum contribution points. Do not join raid groups to attain honor points, you will get next to nothing for your efforts. By joining in on a raid, your contribution points will be cut down to the absolute minimum per kill.
WoW Tip #11 Safe Passage Into The Barren Lands (From Roy Williams of El Paso, Texas) - I discovered a way to get into the Barren Lands without getting attacked. When you just get to the Barrens Gate, There are two Pvp Enemies standing there. To bypass them, Go to the left and you will be able to sneak in on the lft side. If you are a Warlock, Use the the spell that gives you a Eye for scouting ahead, "I think it's called "Eye of Killog," When you don't see any enemies go ahead, If you do see some, hug the extreme left side until get clear of them. The Eye spell is very usefull & you don't have to lose any characters in the process. I haven't found any Vendors in the Barren Lands, so it's best to make your home base at the town you start in after you get off the boat.
WoW Tip #12 Get Lots Of Money & items (From Roy Williams of El Paso, Texas) - One more clue to get lots of Money & items is to travel through the Wetlands. If you are a Warlock, Summon your Voidwalker to help with the heavy fighting. If you're at level 20, The trek should be easier. The place that drops the most money is before you enter the Wetlands City. Look to your right for a Small island Cemetary. Swim to it & if you have a Breath Underwater Spell or traveling with someone that has that spell, Cast it now. Warlocks have the Breath Underwater spell. Dive in and you will find a lot of Enemies here starting at level to and 29 that drop lots of money and sometimes some good items that you can either sell or use.
